Veteran - Former member of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard) who served on active duty and was terminated from his job under non-dishonorable terms.

Veterans Day is celebrated in the USA. Originally called Armistice Day (Armistice Day), this holiday was established in honor of the Americans who took part in the First World War.

It is celebrated on November 11, the day the war ended in 1918. But now this day honors the veterans of all the wars in which the United States is involved.

Veterans' organizations hold parades, and the president traditionally lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Tomb of the Unknowns) at Arlington Inner Cemetery.

Veterans are treated with great respect in the United States. The United States has one of the most comprehensive care systems for veterans in the world. As early as 1636, when the pilgrims from the Plymouth colony were at war with the Pecot tribe, the colonists passed a law according to which disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony.

Later, during the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress in 1776 provided pensions for war invalids. In the early days of the republic, some US states and communities provided direct medical and hospital care for veterans.

Trieste Publishing offers you books about veterans, their life stories, biographies, stories of military exploits.
