This book is the work of Ghewond M. Alishan, a prominent Armenian scholar, ethnologist, scientist and poet.

One would expect something abundant and elegant, but given the frequent revolutions of this unfortunate nation and the invasions of so many barbarian tribes who, during the oppressive slavery into which they relegated its inhabitants, not only destroyed its art and literature, but even extinguished the last glimpse poetic fire of the Sons of Ararat: there is hope that even this modest collection, offered only as a model and first translated into English, to illustrate the vast field of the Ancient East.
This book contains the original songs in Armenian and translation into English.
