Henry Cabot Lodge
Henry Cabot Lodge (May 12, 1850 to November 9, 1924) was a Republican senator / historian who hailed from Massachusetts, USA. A prominent member of the Lodge family, Cabot obtained a history degree from Harvard University, where as an undergraduate, he joined the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He is remembered for his foreign policy positions, particularly his clashes with President Woodrow Wilson over the Versailles Treaty (1919), whose failures casued that the United States to never jto become a member of the League of Nations. Cabot was born in Beverly, Massachusetts, where he was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Together with his colleague Theodore Roosevelt, Cabot opposed J. G. Blaine's nomination for president at the 1884 Republican National Convention, but supported him in the general election where he stood against Grover Cleveland. Lodge became a congressman in 1886 before becoming a senator in 1893.
