This guide has been compiled specifically for visitors to Singapore who have anywhere from a few hours to a few days to spend in the city. It is intended to supply a felt want in Singapore. The purpose of this guide is to provide, in a convenient form, some historical, descriptive, scientific records, for example, regarding a city and an island. Also provide the information necessary to guide visitors during their stay and avoid some of the difficulties that travelers always face in unfamiliar places. This work is the first of its kind to be published in The Settlement. Gathering accurate information was a challenge, but steps were taken to make the work as accurate as possible, in the hope that future editions, if required, would correct errors that might have been made in this edition and make the work as intended - useful travel guide for visitors to Singapore.
