How to Identify Old Chinese Porcelain

At the time of the book's publication in 1907, there was a lot of valuable Chinese porcelain in England and America, about which its owners know very little; and at a time when the high prices in London's trading floors are paying attention, many people want to know more about their property and subject matter in general. Therefore, it seemed to the author that a cheap and simple book might be acceptable. This little work is by no means a complete history and description of Chinese porcelain, but is written solely to help the amateur to begin the study of the most interesting and complex field of ceramic art. Although there are many comprehensive and expensive works that provide pleasure and assistance to connoisseurs, at that time there was no book that could help the simple novice or the ordinary collector who might be the owner of valuable porcelain and who, even if he was lucky, the owner of some fine work on Chinese porcelain can have great difficulty in understanding this. According to the author, when the amateur has overcome some of the difficulties associated with Chinese porcelain, he will find the subject so fascinating that he will need very little incentive to make him want to deepen his knowledge. At the risk of being monotonous, the author repeated some pieces of information more than once so that any section of the book could be studied separately. On top of that, I thought it would be helpful to find illustrations of really beautiful Chinese porcelain specimens in addition to those that are more common. They should be of interest to all collectors, regardless of their position. They will also show the reader what heights he can achieve if he is lucky.
