The Hound of the Baskervilles: Another Adventure of Sherlock Holmes

The Hound of the Baskervilles is a detective novel written by Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle. One of the most famous works, where the main characters are private detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson. Dr. James Mortimer, a village doctor, turned to Sherlock Holmes for help. His friend, Baronet Sir Charles Baskerville, died under mysterious circumstances near his ancestral estate in the English county of Devonshire. Everything pointed to natural death, if not for the expression of inhuman horror on the face of the deceased. There is one eerie family legend in the Baskervilles that they pass down from generation to generation. This legend tells of a ghost dog that haunts all the Baskervilles in the swamps of Grimpen Mire at night. According to legend, the ghost first appeared to punish one of the Baskervilles - the wicked rascal Hugo, who lived in the XVII century. Since then, the dog has sometimes reappeared to take the lives of Hugo's descendants. The devilish ghost is described in the legend as a giant black dog, with glowing eyes and a huge mouth.
