Book description

Remarks on the Sonnets of Shakespeare – is a work which was published in 1866 and written by Ethan Allen Hitchcock. He was a career US Army officer and writer who worked for the War Department in Washington, DC during the American Civil War, in which he served as a Major General. In this work, the author shows that the sonnets belong to the hermetic class of scriptures, and also explains their general meaning and purpose. The book has nine chapters, in each of which the author diligently provides examples and remarks on Shakespeare's sonnets. For those who may be attracted to the study of Shakespeare's sonnets, the author encloses the sonnets along with these notes for convenience.
