Book description
Reflections on the Revolution in France - is a treatise by Edmund Burke, an Anglo-Irish parliamentarian, politician, philosopher, publicist of the Enlightenment, the founder of the ideology of conservatism.
This treatise contains a detailed criticism of the programs of the revolutionary reorganization of society and was written at the height of the French Revolution in 1790.
The treatise caused widespread public debate, in particular because of Burke's parallel oratorical activities in parliament and as a vivid expression of the ideology of conservatism.
Edmund Burke "sharply and unequivocally condemned the French Revolution in this text as an attempt to destroy the established social order and replace it with a purely speculative and therefore unviable scheme of social relations developed by encyclopedic philosophers."
He predicted its collapse and rebirth in the semblance of what it was before.
This edition also contains a short biographical sketch of Edmund Burke.
