Book description
The Mount – is a travelogue written by Philip Gilbert Hamerton, a British artist, art critic and author of 19th century.
After his first literary attempt in the form of a collection of poetry was not successful, he decided to devote himself to painting.
He has traveled and this is one of the books in which he describes his visit to France.
This book is a travel narrative of his visit to the site of a Gaulish city on Mont Beuvray.
Also it contains a description of its neighboring city of Autun, a subprefecture of the Saône-et-Loire department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of central-eastern France.
In these places, he wrote his successful books such as Painter's Camp in the Highlands (1863); Etching and Etchers (1866) and others.
