Book description
Yangtze is the longest and most abundant river in Eurasia, the third in the world in full flow and the fourth in the world in length.
In winter, the Yangtze is a relatively narrow channel between high banks.
In summer it is several miles wide and crowded in places, so that it is often impossible to see the limit of its reach.
This is the strangest and most inexplicable river in the world.
With the greatest humility, the author took it upon himself to inform the public of the greatness and wonders of China's largest river and the character of the cities on its banks after one trip to and from Chungking.
The only reason the author could possibly have done this is because of wonderful people who live by the Great River have always and in all cases been very generous, hospitable, and wonderfully helpful.
