Book description
The Book of St Albans (or Boke St Albans) is a book published in 1486, which is a collection of materials related to the interests of the time, belonging to a gentleman.
It is also known by more accurate titles such as The Book of Crushing, Hunting, and Shooting Weapons.
Very little is known about Julian Berners, and what is known is impossible to verify the veracity of the facts.
Julianne Berners was the author of treatises on field sports such as hunting, and many people attribute the entire book of St Albans to her.
It contains three essays on hawk, hunting and heraldry. It became popular and went through many editions, quickly gaining an additional essay on fishing.
The heraldry section contains many coats of arms, printed in six colors (including black ink and white page color), and the first color print in England.
