Book description
The autobiography of Gurdon Saltonstall Hubbard, Pa-pa-ma-ta-be, "The swift walker" - is a book, which was published in 1911.
Gurdon Saltonstall Hubbard was a 19th century American fur trader, insurance agent and land speculator.
He was influential in the development of the city of Chicago and was responsible for its growth in the 19th century.
In addition to his work developing and promoting Chicago, Hubbard was known for his sportsmanship.
The text of this Autobiography is taken directly from the manuscript of the original Diary, held by the Chicago Historical Society, as it appeared in the memorial volume compiled by Mr. Henry E. Hamilton in 1888 for circulation only to close friends of Mr Hubbard’s family.
This memorial volume has long been considered valuable to book collectors, especially those interested in the history of the early Northwest.
This publication will ensure the wider circulation of the Autobiography that its interest deserves.
