Book description

The Gambling Games of the Chinese in America – is a book, published in 1891 and written by Stewart Culin, an American ethnographer and author interested in games, dress and art. He argued that the similarities in folk games show similarities among different cultures around the world. Although Stewart Culin did not have an ethnographic education, he played a large role in the formation of ethnography. Stewart Culin was interested in the Asian-American population of Philadelphia and later focused on studying migrant workers from China. This book is about Chinese gambling games like Fan-Tan and Pak Kop Pin.
