This book was published in 1893 and tells about the life of Samuel Norvell Lapsley. Samuel Norvell Lapsley was an American Presbyterian missionary in the Congo. He was an ordained minister and missionary for the United States Presbyterian Church. He served in the Congo Free State as a missionary from May 1890 to March 1892. This book consists of excerpts from the diary and letters of Samuel Norvell Lapsley, excluding his memoir and the final chapter. These notes and letters were kept from February 26, 1890 and ending March 17, 1892, a few days before his death. This volume contains the best excerpts from his letters and diaries in order to briefly give a clear and coherent picture of his travels and works, as well as the countries and peoples he visited.
