Immortality and the future – is a book which was published in 1917 and written by Hugh Ross Mackintosh, who was a Scottish parish priest and theologian. This small book is intended as a first guide for those who study the problems of eschatology and wish to do so in the full light of history and faith. Accordingly, these two interests have always been considered. Having said so much, the author hoped that he had sufficiently indicated what is needed and what not to look for in the following pages. The volume was planned and mostly written before the outbreak of the war, but the subject it deals with, and especially the great themes of death, immortality and eternal life, have now captured all hearts with renewed vigor. There is ample evidence from all sides that it has not been for a century that interest in these issues has been so wide and deep. The war created a new sky; let us believe that this can help in the creation of a new earth.
