German primer, with exercises – is a textbook which was published in 1883 and written by Alfred Charles Clapin. This small book contains everything that students wanting to learn to translate fluently German classical authors and learn how to write German sentences. Modern phonetic spelling sanctioned in 1880 by the Prussian government and recommended for teaching in Prussian schools, is still so new that it has not yet found its place in the general literature of Germany. Consequently, this Primer retains the old spelling, but from time to time paying attention to the modern form of words. This book consists of study material, exercises and vocabulary.
