Book description

Exposé of Polygamy in Utah – is a book which was published in 1872 and written by Fanny Warn Stenhouse, one of the first Mormon pioneers who defected from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This book is a record of her personal experience as one of the wives of a Mormon elder for over twenty years in the mid-1800s. The following pages are simply what they claim to be: "What I Know About Polygamy"; and in order to clearly state all this to the reader, she summarized her personal experience - what she herself felt, saw and knew. She could prove that every statement presented here is strictly correct. The women of Utah will testify to her that every word she writes is true, although it may be just a faint idea of the facts as they happened. All the circumstances led to a solution that she gave to the world, and especially to her sisters in Utah, an account of her own trials, which were and in many cases remain their own. An exact copy of Revelation is presented at the end of the volume so that any curiosity about it can be satisfied so that readers can see for themselves what Mormon women believed and obeyed. Several “select” passages that follow him are drawn from the writings and speeches of prominent contemporary apostles. They will fully confirm every statement of the author and prove to an impartial mind that she has not in any way exaggerated or deviated from the truth, but rather the opposite. Fanny Stenhouse told a simple fact story about the lives of Mormon women and tried to present a real picture of the dire realities of Mormon polygamy.
