Book description
About the Book
Elements of Plane and Spherical Trigonometry – work of John Radford Young, an English mathematician, professor and author, who was almost entirely self-educated. This book was originally published in 1833. The purpose of this treatise is to theoretically substantiate the theory of plane and spherical trigonometry and to present this theory, together with some of its most interesting and valuable applications, in a form suitable for elementary learning. Thus, in this volume, both theory and practice of science are presented, with each practical formula illustrated with examples of numerical calculation, formalized in an appropriate form. In addition to the practical illustration of the formulas, a separate part of the work is devoted to the principles of navigation and marine astronomy, which will find a very short and convenient method for determining the lunar distance in order to determine the longitude at sea.
