Book description
County Churches. Nottinghamshire – is a book, which was published in 1912 and written by John Charles Cox, an English cleric, local historian and activist.
Nottinghamshire is a ceremonial non-metropolitan county in the center of England.
The purpose of the County Churches series, to which this little volume belongs, is to give in a convenient and concise manner an accurate survey of the old parish churches of England, in the hope that they may serve as an aid to church-loving visitors, and also testify to some then a trifling service to local churchmen.
As regards Nottinghamshire, the author has known the county well for almost half a century and has always been interested in its old churches.
He first made certain notes on the churches of Nottinghamshire in the 1870s when he was working on the fourth volume of Derbyshire Churches.
