Baptism and feet-washing

There is nothing so comprehensive in church literature. There are several excellent manuals and treatises on the parts of the subject that are comprehended in this work, but there is no single volume as comprehensive in completeness and completeness on the subject as Baptism and Foot-washing. This work is not a child of the hour, but it bears the traces of many years of painstaking work. Each paragraph demonstrates the scientific research and logic behind anything Dr. Bergstresser has ever written. In these days of pretense and pretense, it is delightful to fall into the naturalness and scientific simplicity that make the incomprehensible things obvious and the secrets of scientist’s common property. The work is very naturally divided into three parts: first, The Mode of Baptism; secondly, The Subjects of Baptism; and third, Feet-Washing as a Sacrament. The first part, concerning The Way of Baptism, is an old battlefield where churchmen have shown their wits over the centuries. The chapters on baptism and foot-washing as the sacrament are especially helpful. The argument for infant baptism is surprisingly clear and comes to us after careful research, leaving no room for objection. In this chapter alone, the book should be placed in every Lutheran Church Sunday School library and in the hands of every catechumen. In the third part, "Feet washing as a sacrament," we find ourselves in uncharted territory.
