Book description

The author, John T. Williams, is a well-known planter and a successful businessman, who has lived in British Guiana for many years. He has been instrumental in the development of this colony and has been very active in promoting its commercial interests. He was born in 1797 and died in 1875. In his book Williams described how he had successfully cultivated coffee on his property and explained how coffee grows on trees and how it differs from other fruits. In addition, he gave some advice on how to manage plantations: "The ground being cleared should be divided into small fields for raising different crops."
