A Manual of Osteopathy

A Manual of Osteopathy – is a work which was published in 1900 and complied by Dr. Eduard Wilhelm Goetz. The science of osteopathy was founded by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, who was previously an allopathic physician and surgeon in the US Army. In preparing this volume for publication, the goal was to make every page and every sentence understandable for everyone, regardless of whether they are doctors or not. Everyone recognizes the importance of exercise, bathing, and diet. But not everyone has a compact guide to these subjects at hand as they relate to the treatment of certain diseases. This book, from which technical terms have been excluded as much as possible, is expected to provide such instructions to those who study it carefully and follow its suggestions in good faith. However, the book claims to be more than a set of rules for dietetics, bathing, and exercise. In its own way, this is a complete guide to the treatment of diseases, not by faith, but by knowledge based on careful research and discoveries in the science of healing, which is no less valuable because they turn out to be new and strange to some. Perhaps the principles outlined in it are now less widely known than they will be in the future. The author also hoped that an experienced therapist looking through these pages with an open, unbiased mind would see new values that would be added to his previous research and experience in therapy. The author believes that osteopathy is a worthy message to smart doctors in all existing schools.
