A history of education during the Middle Ages and the transition to modern times – is a book, which was published in 1914 and written by Frank Pierpont Graves. Frank Pierpont Graves was a noted educational historian, college administrator, and writer. He was also commissioner of the New York State Department of Education from 1921 to 1940. This book is a continuation of the author's book "History of Education before the Middle Ages" and generally follows the same point of view and method of approach. However, it can be used quite independently of this volume as a textbook or guide to the history of education between the 6th and 18th centuries. A sufficiently clear and detailed description is here given to give an accurate picture of the period covered and to interest students in some of the most important origins of modern educational procedure. Extensive citation of sources and selected lists of additional literature will greatly contribute to these goals. The book splits into 2 parts and consists of 20 chapters.
