Wilhelm Worringer

Wilhelm Robert Worringer (1881 to 1965) was a German art historian who made a reputation based on theories about abstract art and its relationship to avant-garde movements, including German Expressionism. He had considerable influence over the art critic T. E. Hulme, whose writing resulted in Worringer's theories influencing the development of early British modernism, in particular Vorticism.
