T. Sturge Moore

Thomas Sturge Moore (1870 to 1944) was a UK poet, author and artist who was born at Hastings, East Sussex and educated at Dulwich College, the Croydon School of Art and the Lambeth School of Art, wheren he studied under wood-engraver Charles Roberts. A long-term friend and correspondent of W. B. Yeats, he was described as "one of the most exquisite poets writing in England". Moore was also a playwright, who wrote a Medea that was influenced by Yeats' drama and by the Japanese Noh style. As an artist / wood-engraver Moore designed covers for the poetry of Yeats and others.
