Robert Frost

Robert Lee Frost (1874 to 1963) was a US poet whose works were initially published in England before being published in the US. Known for depicting realistic rural life with a strong command of American colloquial speech, he often portrayed scenes from rural life in New England in the early 20th century, employing them to investigate complex social and philosophical themes. Frost is the only poet ever to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry, becoming one of America's rare "public literary figures, almost an artistic institution," was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960. In 1961 Frost became poet laureate of Vermont.
