Richard Copley Christie


Richard Copley Christie (22 July 1830 to 9 January 1901) was a lawyer, university lecturer, philanthropist and bibliophile in England. Born at Lenton in Nottinghamshire, he was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford and tutored by Mark Pattison. In 1857 he was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn, and held the professorships of history (1854-1856) and political economy (1855-1866) at Owens College.
