Reuben Gold Thwaites


Reuben Gold Thwaites (born May 15, 1853 and died October 22, 1913) was an American librarian and writer of histories. He was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and in 1866 worked on the farm there, studied at college-level and was a reporter at the Oshkosh Times. Between 1874 and 1875 he studied English Literature, International Law and Economic History at Yale University, and from 1876 to 1886, held the position of managing editor of the Wisconsin State Journal. In 1885 he assumed the position of Assistant Corresponding Secretary of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, and was Secretary from 1887.
