James Beaven
James Beaven (1801 to 1875) was a Church of England clergyman and writer who was educated and worked in the UK before his appointment as professor of divinity at King's College, Toronto, in 1843. An accomplished classical scholar, Bevan wrote sevedral books, three of which were scholarly sermons. He wrote about Cicero and the life and writings of St Irenaeus. His Elements of Natural Theology is considered by some to be the first philosophical work written in English and published in Canada.
