Geo. Coleman Gow
George Coleman Gow (1860-1938). George was the son of George Boardman Gow and Lucy Ann Marston, and husband of Grace D. Chester (married 1901). His early education was in the public schools of Worcester, Massachusetts, and at the Worcester Academy. He graduated from the Pittsfield, Massachusetts School of Music (1880); Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island (1884); and the NewtonTheological Seminary (1889). Gow taught harmony and counterpoint at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts; studied in Berlin, Germany (1892-93); and was head of the Music Department at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York (1895-1932). Died January 12, 1938.
