Eduard Sievers

Eduard Sievers (1850 to 1932) was a philologist specializing in classical and Germanic languages and one of the Junggrammatiker of the "Leipzig School". One of the most influential historical linguists of the late 19th century, he is remembered for recovering the poetic traditions of Germanic languages (Anglo-Saxon and Old Saxon) and for his discovery of Sievers' law.
