Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson (1832 to 1910) was a Norwegian poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature 1903 "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit", The first Norwegian Nobel laureate, Bjørnson was counted as one of The Four Greats (De Fire Store) Norwegian writers (the others were Henrik Ibsen, Alexander Kielland and Jonas Lie) . Bjørnson is also remembed for penning the lyrics to the Norwegian National Anthem, "Ja, vi elsker dette landet".
