Arnold Harris Mathew, was the self-styled de jure 4th Earl Landaff of Thomastown (born 7 August 1852, died 19 December 1919). He was the founder and first bishop of the Old Catholic Church in the United Kingdom and was a well kown author on ecclesiastical topics. Prior to becoming a bishop in the Union of Utrecht (UU), Mathew had been both a Roman Catholic and an Anglican. His early life interested researchers because of his aristocratic connections and his father's relationship with colonial India.
