Book description

William Morris And The Early Days Of The Socialist Movement – is a book which was published in 1921 and written by John Bruce Glasier, a Scottish socialist politician, associated mainly with the Independent Labour Party. William Morris, according to the author, was one of the greatest genius people this or any other country has ever known. With an abundance of creative energy and completeness of skill in arts and literature, it is doubtful whether he ever excelled. This book is not about Morris as an artist, but about Morris as a socialist. Here are the memories of Morris's work as a propagandist and observations of his character and genius, with some description of the persons and circumstances of early socialist agitation. This book also includes a series of letters addressed by Morris to the author, John Bruce Glasier, with whom he had a friendship. The foreword to this book was written by William Morris' daughter, Mary "May" Morris, who was artisan, jeweller, embroidery designer, socialist, and editor.
