Verses from Maoriland - is the first of three volumes of poetry by Dora Wilcox, published in 1905.
Dora Wilcox was a New Zealand and Australian playwright and poet.
Dora Wilcox was born in Christchurch, New Zealand.
She was educated privately and at Canterbury College and then taught for three years in Armidale, New South Wales.
She published in periodicals, including the Sydney Bulletin, from the age of twelve and moved to Australia.
And the next two decades, Dora Wilcox spent in Europe.
There she married Paul Hamelius, Professor of the University of Liege.
After his death in 1922, she returned to Australia.
By then, she had met and married the Melbourne writer and art critic William Moore.
After his death, Dora Wilcox became his literary executor.
She continued to publish poetry, many articles of historical and literary interest, and several plays that were staged and won prizes.
