Logan Pearsall Smith was an American-born British essayist, man of letters and critic. He spent most of his life in England, where he was educated at Harvard and Oxford. He was the founder of the Pure English Society. Logan Pearsall Smith he was famous for his aphorisms and epigrams and was an expert in 17th century theologians. His words and idioms made him an authority on the correct use of the English language. This book consists of nine short stories, beginning with the story from which the title of the book, "The youth of Parnassus", is named.
