This simple story of the Pennsylvania and Ohio branch of the Sampson family is not intended to provide a complete genealogy. The book is written solely to preserve an account of this distinctive Sampsons branch, and there is no intention of including, save for incidental references, the New England branch. This book includes excerpts that were collected from personal conversations with living people, as well as extensive correspondence in England, Scotland, Ireland and America, as well as individual research in numerous historical and public libraries in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, New York, Cincinnati, Chicago and Washington, D.C. This collection was compiled not only for the benefit of your descendants and future generations, but also in order to preserve the revered memories of your ancestors.
