Book description

The Round Table is a collection of essays by William Hazlitt and Lee Hunt published in 1817. In early 1817, 40 of Hazlitt's essays that appeared in The Examiner in a regular column called The Round Table, along with a dozen articles by Lee Hunt from the same series, were collected in book form. Hazlitt's contributions to The Round Table were written somewhat in the manner of the periodical essays of the time, a genre defined by eighteenth-century journals such as “Spectator” and “Tatler”. This book is the second volume of The Round Table. The contents of the book are written in the manner of the periodical essays of the time. Hazlitt's essays covered subjects such as art, manners, literature, and theater, and more, while Hunt wrote several essays on common topics such as laundresses and the joy of spending time by the fireplace.
