The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Guide to the Loan Exhibition of the J. Pierpoint Morgan Collection

This book is an exhibition guide of the J. Pierpont Morgan Collection in The Metropolitan Museum of Art which was published in 1914. John Pierpont Morgan was an American banker, financier and entrepreneur in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Morgan was a renowned collector of books, paintings, and other art objects. Many of the art from his collections have been given or loaned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This exhibition that the Metropolitan Museum offers to its visitors, described on the following pages, is called the “Morgan Collection.” The pieces of art in this exhibition are just a fraction of his collections that the late John Pierpont Morgan allowed amassing in Europe and sent to the United States during the year before his death in 1913.
