Book description

Scott & his poetry – is a work, which was published in 1915 and written by Arthur Eustace Morgan. In this volume, the biography of Walter Scott and his work will be considered together and in close connection. Here an attempt is made to interest the reader in the life and personality of the poet, and at the same time to use the biography as an introduction and a key to his works. In doing so, special attention is paid to his personality as a poet, as expressed in his poetry, as well as to the influences and conditions that were most considered shaping factors in the growth of his genius. This biographical study is used as the basis for a selection of his representative poems. Such verses, where possible, are reproduced in full, and care is taken to bring out their connection with his character, his circumstances, and the movement of his mind.
