Poems Dramatic And Lyrical – is a collection of poems which was written by John Leicester Warren Lord De Tabley and published in 1896. John Byrne Leicester Warren was an English poet, numismatist, botanist and bookplate expert. Tabley's poetry is characterized primarily by the splendor of style, derived from Milton's careful study of sonority, dignity, weight and color. John Byrne Leicester Warren's passion for detail was both a weakness and a strength: it lent a loving fidelity to his description of natural objects, but sometimes led to the loss of simple effect due to over-elaboration of processing. He was always a student of classical poets and drew inspiration directly from them. He always strove for heights, for a region that is usually frozen at times, but always for a country with a clean atmosphere and bright, vibrant outlines. In this collection, the poems largely illuminated his last years of a rather gloomy and secluded life. Also this volume includes illustrations by C. S. Ricketts.
