Monterey: and other poems – is a collection of poems which was published in 1851 and written by Fanny Crosby.
She was an American poet, author of famous Gospel hymns, many of which are still sung at services in Protestant churches.
This collection includes poems dedicated to the recent Mexican-American war.
There is also a poem pleading with the United States to help those who suffered from the Great Famine in Ireland.
In her 1903 autobiography, Fanny stated that she was in a state of sadness and depression at the time.
This collection consists of about one hundred poems.
