Book description

Light, Life And Love: Selections From The German Mystics Of The Middle Ages written by William Ralph Inge, who was an Anglican priest, English author as well as professor of divinity at Cambridge. Inge was a prolific author and in addition to scores of lectures, articles and sermons, he also wrote over 35 books and nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature three times. He is widely known for his work on Plotinus and Neoplatonic philosophy and of course on Christian mysticism. This book belongs to this genre. Christian mysticism is an internal trend in Christianity, which is a "value experience of the mystery of the Divine Trinity within the framework of a special spiritual practice." Christian mysticism focuses on the practice of deep prayer concerning Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. In this work, he examines selected excerpts from the works of German mystics of the Middle Ages. This book presents such prominent representatives of German mysticism, as well as of Christian mysticism in general, as Meister Eckhart, Henry Suso, Johannes Tauler and John of Ruysbroeck.
