Life's flood-tide – it is a collection of 12 sermons written and preached by John Stuart Holden. The purpose of these sermons is quite practical. They were all preached in the regular ministry at St. Paul's Church in Portman Square, where the author continually tried to deal weekly with the common man's problems and hardships associated with the Christian life. Without any intended sequence of thoughts, their common intention is to help people find the fullness of life in Christ, which is truly a powerful tide. All other considerations were subordinated to this purpose in their preparation and delivery, as well as in meeting some of the repeated requests for their publication. If they are a means of helping someone to realize the manifold grace of Christ in its impact on their lives, the author would be grateful.
