History and Genealogy of the Knauss Family in America: Tracing Back the Records to Ludwig Knauss, to the Year 1723

This volume is dedicated to the memory of the worthy and respected Ludwig Knauss and his two sons, John Heinrich and Sebastian Heinrich, as well as their descendants, who are the ancestors of the authors. They were peaceful and calm people, modest, but conscientious in their work. Almost all of them plowed the land, but some were engaged in other manual activities. Today's generation is not limited to the farm and workshop. The generation honored representatives of the professions, sciences and mechanics, manufacturing, business, music, in school classrooms, in the office, on the platform, in the bar, in medicine, in the army and navy and in the department. Let the descendants of Ludwig Knauss lead a dignified and respected life and strive for everything worthy, noble and noble. The impact on offspring in the United States of the ancestors we honor cannot be overstated. May this work be such an incentive for future members of the family, which has now expanded to nearly all parts of the United States, that everyone can lead a noble life that will prove they are worthy descendants of a noble father. The goal of the next genealogy is to preserve from oblivion the more distant history of the ancestors-pioneers of the Knauss family and to record the names and biographies of descendants to the present time and generation. Genealogy is beneficial because it is of great interest to all descendants and becomes more and more interesting for future generations by tracing their ancestry. Sentiment in this regard is growing in many families, and family pride is awakened and intensified with the desire to learn more about their origins. The original intention of the author was to prepare the history and genealogy of only one branch of the family, but others, wishing to have their names and families recorded, persuaded the author to include all such families that were associated with the Knauss family and who would be willing to provide the required information and data. Work on collecting names and other necessary data began in 1903.
