About the Book

First plays – collection of plays, written by Alan Alexander Milne, British writer best known as the author of fairy tales about the "bear with sawdust in his head" - Winnie the Pooh. These five plays were written while the author was serving in the British army during the First World War. But only one of the five plays is devoted to the theme of war. Wurzel- Flummery – a comedy in one act, the first play written by Alan Milne. The Lucky One with that name was doomed from the start. And the girl is marrying the wrong man. The author sees no hope for its creation. According to the author, this is the best game of the five. The Boy Comes Home was produced by Mr. Owen Nares at Victoria Palace in September 1918 and later featured in Hallo, America! at the Palace, and was played by Mr. Godfrey Thirl at the Colosseum the following April. Belinda was directed by Mr. Dion Boucicault at the New Theater in 1918 with Miss Irene Vanbrugh in the name-part. Miss Ethel Barrymore played her in New York. Red Feathers has not yet been released for one reason (possibly) that it was not being offered to anyone at the time of this book's publication.
