Book description
Dulcy – is a comedy in three acts which was produced and published in 1921 and written by George Simon Kaufman and Marc Connelly.
Kaufman was an American theatre director and producer, as well as playwright, humorist, and drama critic.
Connelly was an American playwright, producer, performer, director, and lyricist.
This comedy play opened in New York 1921 and ran for 241 performances.
Most of the "public" who love and praise “Dulcy” have no idea how "really good" the comedy is or why it is so good.
This is one of those plays that amiable and pretentious people inevitably refer to as "little" plays.
It is just a brilliantly expressed cheerful thought about some human nonsense, and since a cheerful thought about anything can be as true as a gloomy thought about the same, and since a cheerful thought is worth ten times more than a gloomy one, and his incredibly harder to express than this piece, nothing could have been more definite to begin with than what "Dulcy" is usually called "clever little play" or "sparkling little play" but almost always "little."
