Aristotle on the art of poetry: an amplified version with supplementary illustrations for students of English – is a work written by Lane Cooper, Professor of the English Language and Literature in Cornell University.
The author hopes that this enhanced exposition of the Poetics of Aristotle will be useful for students of literature in general, and, perhaps, not without information content even for researchers of the ancient classics.
However, it is primarily intended for some English learners who are able to benefit from the essence of the treatise, but upon first acquaintance with it, in any modern translation derive less benefit than their efforts usually deserve.
Accordingly, the main goal of the author was to make the subject matter so clear that it could be made for a first reading by a reader whose difficulties and initial mistakes the author recognized as an English teacher.
To this end, the author used a number of techniques, some of which may require clarification.
