Book description
The English Manuscripts Of The Nicomachean Ethics – is a work which was published in 1882 and written by John Alexander Stewart, a Scottish writer, philosopher and educator.
John Alexander Stewart was an author of works on Aristotle and considered one of the foremost experts on the subject.
In the following pages Stewart has embodied his collations of six English manuscripts of the Ethics.
As far as Stewart knows, comparisons of three of these manuscripts have not yet been published; whereas only independent report on the other three, published by Wilkinson in 1715, is a meager list of indications, selected almost at random and often inaccurately recorded, and no comparison in the modern sense of the term.
Stewart took the form in which his comparisons are presented, with the aim of attributing, if possible, each manuscript to its genealogical place.
