Book description

A memoir of the Reverend Sydney Smith – is a book, which was published in 1855 and written by Lady Saba Holland, the eldest daughter of Sydney Smith and the second wife of Sir Henry Holland. She made a name for herself as the author of the highly readable memoir of her famous father, which this book is. Sydney Smith was an English writer and Anglican clergyman in the late 18th and mid 19th century. The author dared to present to the public these memoirs of her father, which she had been collecting for several years exclusively for herself and her children, together with numerous donations from various friends. With these materials, illustrating a selection of his letters, the author presents to the public such information about the character of her father as son, priest, father, husband and friend, the reputation that he has already acquired for talent and honesty through his works.
